At the centre of the project is the neo-gothic Bloor Street United Church (BSUC), undergoing a major restoration. Designed by renowned architectural firm KPMB for Collecdev-Markee Developments, the project preserves and integrates the church into a new sleek tower, seamlessly blending heritage and contemporary design.
The tower is set back from the church, allowing the historic structure to remain the focal point. Its minimal form and façade compliment the intricate details of the heritage church. Cielo will offer 339 residential units, including one, two, and three-bedroom options. The interiors feature contemporary finishes with wood and stone elements, creating elegant and comfortable spaces. The project also includes the revitalization of 20,000 square feet of community and commercial office space, while adding approximately 40,000 square feet of leasable space. Sustainability is a key focus for Collecdev-Markee Developments, with various energy-saving features incorporated into the project to achieve Toronto Green Standards (TGS) certification.
Residents will enjoy an array of amenities, distributed across the ground, sixth and eighth floors. The sixth floor is dedicated to wellness and social connection, with a fitness centre, weight room, media lounge, and skyline terrace. On the eighth floor, amenities include a business centre, private dining room and an expansive landscaped terrace—the development’s largest outdoor amenity space. At street level, Cielo offers a library, dedicated pet area, and the Bloor Street Plaza, a public terrace that connects the building to the surrounding neighbourhood. The plaza will border the entrance of a new four-storey glass pavilion.
The Annex remains one of Toronto’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. As the city’s Arts & Cultural hub, it is home to The Royal Ontario Museum, Gardiner Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, The Royal Conservatory of Music, and various other institutions. Just a few blocks east, residents can explore Yorkville and The Mink Mile, one of the world’s most prestigious shopping districts. To the west, Bloor Street West offers a mix of vibrant restaurants, cafés, markets, and green spaces.
